So....how lame and disrespectful was it for Lester and Terry to quit mid-game in their semi-final spades match against the former champion, Mark Hendrickson and his Labatts' drinkin, mullet wearin, hockey lovin' partner, Mr. Brett Mitchell? The excuse...."it's too late...it will take us another hour to finish the game". Are you totally kidding? Seriously? Here's two things wrong with that rational.
1. If they could actually play up to the level that they had professed to be able to play AT, the game shouldn't have taken as long as it had!! They each had like 8 bags and 150 points!! Were they bidding blind? No wonder the game was taking so long, they had probably gone back 100 points for bags already and were getting ready to roll again!!
2. Colby and I still had to play the championship game ANYWAY!! No one should have given up and gone to bed. They think that because they were "ahead" when they QUIT, that it was a victory for them. WRONG!! At one point (and only one point) Colby and I were behind in a game, adn came back. There is nothing to say that Terry and Lester would have remained on top...especially at the rate they were going!!
Poor form!! Boooooo....BOOOOOOO!! We shall settle this somehow. But don't think for a moment that this in any way or shape reflects on our championship. We dominated from beginning to end and hopefully silenced all those who spoke otherwise. We'll take on anyone at any time and crush them...except our wives...doggone it!! They beat us everytime!! Oh well....
The rooster would look good on my mantle (if I had a fireplace).
Viva El Campeones!!!

I love the new profile pic! The mullett of the week however, scares me a little bit...
It scares us all a little...but deep down you know it's good and right...come ON....a mullet AND a thong?!?!?! Can one person violate that many decency laws at one time!!??
actually you need to get your story straight. We were winning by 60-80 points and Brett and Mark had 9 sandbags. We only had 6 (i believe). Brett and Mark would going to go back an additional 100 points not Terry and I. We were winning and were about to roll all over B&M; however, we had to be up in 3 hours and neither one of us had packed. The game would not have been played so late if there had been better organization of the tournament (i.e. don't give people 3-4 days to sign up). The tournament should have been started earlier in the week with ONLY the championship game played at Tela but I guess that's what happens when a man TRIES to organize a tournament. Your championship will always have an * beside it...just like Barry Bonds. We all know that it should have been Terry, Lester, Colby, and Ben in the final. Everyone wanted us to be playing so instead of having a "tournament" lets just cut to the chase and the four of us battle it out...week long marathon game between the four of us...
There can be no asterisk when one team chooses to quit, or become quitters. I will not address the state of our game, but I will say that the tournament could have progressed quicker had one team not taken 48 hours between each round, just sayin'. As much as it pains me to say so, Ben and Colby are the undisputed holders of the Great Red Rooster, with M&B as the runners up. If you would please scratch mine and Wyeth's names on the rooster for year one I would appreciate it, thanks. (for obvious reasons, Brett and I prefer mb to BM!)
poor organization of the tournament is the reason we had to play every 48 hours. That's what happens when the Jefe is in the tournament. Please direct all further bashing of mine and Terry's decision to call it a night and GO PACK to Terry himself...thanks.
P.S. the look on your faces that night was PRICELESS!!
My oh my, the trash I am reading on this blog..... all of you should watch what you say...... you have to remember that Tim Hines and I were champions in the spades tournament like 5 years in a row before falling the Melissa Knight and Melissa Ricci (I think). Sure, it is old news, but when you win like 25 games in a row, you must state the facts. I am 28-1 since we started the tournament.
Also, just to clarify all in all, it WAS MY IDEA to call it quits that night. I was whipped and the thought of getting even 3 hours sleep was good enough for me. We had a great game going and we were ahead (for the record) when I bowed out. Mark and Brett did have 9 bags and were about to go down 100 points.... all we had to do is play one more hand and we would have been up 150+ points. (sorry Mark and Brett, but you know I am right on this...)
I am all about winning, and offer up a challenge of a "friendlies" match next year before the tournament starts, just to see what happens. I declare Colby and Ben winners and champions. Hats off to you for playing nearly flawless spades. But, as Tim always says, even a blind dog finds a bone every now and then. Defend 5 years in a row and we will talk again. Lesie has taken a beating and she is stubborn enough to keep coming back for more (what can I say?) Talk is cheap so I will hold my piece until we play head to head. May the best team win. Enjoy the title while you can, you might not have it all that long. Its lonely at the top and everyone will be gunning for you. Trust me, I know....if you talk the talk you have to walk the walk. TTYL buddy
Terry
oops, I"m sorry.... I thought there might be a new post on here {not that I have room to talk}
MY BAD!!
